Chaetomorpha

£5.00

You will receive 100g of Chaetomorpha which is approximately 400ml when tightly compacted. When spread out (as pictured) the ball is about 15-20cm in diameter. This will grow out very quickly under the correct conditions and provided with ample nutrients. Dosing of iron can also be beneficial to growth and health of this algae. This will be sent in a ziplock bag with a small quantity of water to maintain humidity in a padded envelope to ensure that it will fit through a letterbox.

Chaetomorpha algae for reef aquarium refugiums, very dense wiry algae. Excellent for controlling Nitrates and Phosphates as well as harbouring large quantities of natural fauna such as copepods, amphipods, mysids, sponges and worms which also help to break down and remove any detritus and waste nutrients as well as provide natural food for your fish and corals and out compete nuisance algae.

Unlike a lot of other macro algaes commonly used in refugia this will not go asexual and break down releasing the nutrients it has removed back into the water and does not release toxic compounds that can stunt the growth of corals in the same way as Caulerpa species can do. As this does not grow roots it is easy to remove from display tanks should it find its way in and does not become a nuisance algae.

Please note that the pictures provided are stock photos and you will not receive that exact peice. However they will be as close as possible in terms of size and colour to the photo shown.
